MJMF Soccer Friendship Tournament held in Edmonton

On Saturday, April 12, 2015 the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation organized the MJMF Soccer Friendship Tournament at the premises of the Alex Taylor School (E4C) in the City of Edmonton. At the event 3 local soccer teams, the Edmonton Lathials, Edmonton Jomidars and Edmonton Jodhas met to determine a winner.

During to the opening ceremony Ahsan Ullah introduced all the players to chief guest Delwar Jahid, President of the Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA).

During his speech Delwar Jahid addressed the importance of the MJMF sports events for the local youth. The Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) is organizing these events on a regular base since 2014 to help and support the youth and their future. Delwar Jahid pointed out, that he wishes for the young generation to not only obtain academic excellence, but also get physical and mental development through sports. The contestants taking part in the sports events were highly appreciated by the chief guest.

After the tournament championship and runners-up trophies were distributed by the chief guest to the top teams. Tanvir Hasan received the Man-of-Match award.

The Edmonton Lathials (Tanvir, Khademul, Masud, Shan) took home the championship title while the Edmonton Jomidars (Rusel, Rocky, Tajul, Mizan, Nigar) became Runners-up. Third in place were the Edmonton Jodhas (Roney, Anis, Robin, Sabree, Bashir).

The soccer fans of the Bangladeshi community in Alberta enjoyed the tournament with much excitement. The Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) assisted the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF) to organize the colorful event. Ahsan Ullah declared words of thanks to the sponsors, the players and the community members present. Among others the executive members of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA), Tomal Islam, Anamur Rahman Miea, Mashod Bhuiyan, Nurul Huda and Dollin Islam were present in the prize distribution ceremony.
